Abalone shells are traditionally used as a vessel in which to burn loose herbs such as sage. They can also be used when smudging to catch the ash or as a place to rest the sage stick.
You can also burn the broken ends of sage sticks in them. Placing some sand or soil in the bottom can help with extinguishing afterwards.
Abalone shells are an expression of healing ocean energy. Using abalone generates a feeling of peace, calm and connecting with nature.

Use your abalone shell to hold or rest sage sticks during smudging. It’s ideal for catching ash or safely burning loose herbs. Add a layer of sand or soil to help with extinguishing herbs after use.
Please note that as these are natural products, minor imperfections do occur on the surface of the shell and around the edges. Variations in size and colour are normal. Shells measure approximately 9 to 10 cm.
